We are currently looking to hire a Intermediate IT Technician to join our Nelson office. In this role, you will play a key part in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and customizing a wide range of hardware and software applications. As a Intermediate IT Technician reporting to the Director of IT, you will provide leadership in designing and maintaining our complex system environment, which supports both our internal and customer-facing platforms. This role requires both technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure the continued success of our technology services.

General Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems and a wide range of software applications.
- Assist clients with reported IT-related requests using an incident tracking system.
- Utilize problem-solving skills to assist customers with IT issues, escalating when necessary.
- Accurately record, update, and document service requests.
- Install, configure, and upgrade various types of IT hardware and software.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring clients are treated efficiently and professionally.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
- Prioritize, schedule, and execute tasks effectively.
Key Position Responsibilities
Operating System Support
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows desktop operating systems in both domain and non-domain environments.
- Setup, migrate, and administer Hyper-V/VMware environments.
- Perform onboarding tasks for new and existing customers, including inventory management, server/network infrastructure access, and deployment of Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools.
Networking
- Install and maintain enterprise-level firewalls.
- Understand and apply knowledge of network architecture, including switches, routers, TCP/IP, IPSEC/SSL VPN, VLANs, and Internet connectivity (ADSL, Cable, and Fiber Optics).
Server and Cloud-based Services
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Exchange Server, Office 365, and Google Apps.
- Provide application support and troubleshooting for server-based and cloud applications.
- Perform advanced Microsoft 365 / Azure AD administration, including tenants, users, groups, and basic SharePoint management.
- Manage and maintain local Data Center infrastructure.
Security
- Implement and administer Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) systems.
- Implement and manage Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, and email filtering systems.
- Administer Single Sign-On and cloud security solutions.
- Implement and support advanced email security solutions.
- Install and manage SSL certificates.
Phone Systems
- Configure and troubleshoot VoIP and cloud-based phone systems.
- Experience configuring and maintaining Mitel/ShoreTel systems is an asset.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work independently within established guidelines to troubleshoot and implement solutions, while collaborating effectively with team members on complex issues.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by balancing team and individual responsibilities, actively listening, accepting feedback, and ensuring the team stays focused on key objectives.
- Provide leadership in managing IT projects, guiding the team through all phases of complex technology initiatives that involve multiple IT disciplines.
- Create, present, and explain complex technology solutions and diagrams to clients, ensuring clear communication of technical concepts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably with a Managed Service Provider (MSP). Other relevant experience will be considered.
- Proven experience in workflow and project management, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with system imaging and deployment automation.
- Knowledge of patch management and system security fundamentals.
- Experience with Cyber Security best practices and Business Continuity Solutions (BDR).
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and Remote Management and Monitoring solutions.
- Skilled in using system documentation platforms and following best practices.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing/sitting for extended periods, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and working around machinery and material handling equipment.
- Additional industry certifications are considered an asset.
