Job Summary
DHC is looking to hire electrical apprentices who are interested in data and security infrastructure installations. Your experience and skills are very transferable and applicable to our field of work and a career with us will provide you with experience in an advanced technological career DHC offers competitive wages and benefits comparable to other trades. Work hours with us are applicable to your ITA ticket. Our scope of work covers all phases of construction from Designing, rough-in, installation/termination, testing and commissioning.

Experience and Responsibilities will include:

  • Roughing in and building pathways.
  • Install, test and troubleshoot communication cabling systems including copper and fiber optics
  • Mechanical and fusion fiber optic splicing.
  • Running, pulling, terminating and splicing copper and fiber optic cables (CAT5, CAT6, coax, low voltage cables, telco, singlemode, multimode).
  • Work with specifications, drawings and plans
  • Work with a variety of trades on site.
  • Operate overhead lift equipment including boom lifts, scissor lifts and bucket trucks
  • Install and maintain outdoor communications systems including line/pole installations
  • Retrofit existing buildings to newer fiber technology
  • Installation and service of intrusion alarms, access control and CCTV systems such as BOSCH, Avigilon and DSC.
  • Installation and commission of Fire Alarm systems such as Siemens.
  • Building data and network racks
  • Building Data and Server rooms.
  • Document network by labelling cables, and recording as built diagrams and specifications. This includes Fluke testing of installations.
  • Assist with other telecommunications including but not limited to, PBX installations, Video Conferencing, SIP, Hosted, Point to Point and wifi.
  • Mount telecommunication equipment, routers, switches etc. all while following industry standards, best practices and manufacturer requirements.
  • Install or maintain existing fire stopping in conduits, trays, wall/ceiling/floor penetrations

Wages: Comparative based on your level of apprenticeship.

JOB SUMMARY

DHC Communications is seeking a highly experienced and motivated OSP Fiber Construction Manager to lead all aspects of our fiber, copper and coaxial network construction operations. This role is responsible for overseeing internal staff and external contractors, managing all OSP activities, and ensuring our work is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards. The OSP Manager will drive operational excellence, team development, and profitability while ensuring strict compliance with safety standards and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who brings deep technical knowledge, a safety-first mindset, and a proven ability to drive team performance and customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Full Accountability for Division Performance

  • Oversee the entire OSP division, including staff management, operational efficiency, safety compliance, cost control, and profitability.

Project Estimation and Bidding

  • Work closely with the estimating and sales teams to scope work, prepare accurate job bids, and develop competitive pricing strategies.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute short- and long-term operational strategies that align with DHC’s business goals and growth initiatives.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Ensure consistent follow-up, issue resolution, and customer satisfaction.

Personnel Management & Development

  • Supervise and support all OSP department staff, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and performance management. Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to field crews and supervisors.

Scheduling and Resource Allocation

  • Working with a team, oversee scheduling of projects, crews, equipment, and materials. Set priorities to ensure optimal resource use and timely project delivery.

Metrics and Reporting

  • Track, analyze, and report on key operational metrics such as productivity, quality, safety, budget adherence, and project timelines. Provide regular updates to leadership and implement performance improvements as needed.

Mentorship and Development

  • Support the growth of the team by coaching and mentoring field staff, promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.

Emergency/Disaster Recovery

  • Develop and manage emergency response plans for break/fix and disaster recovery situations. Coordinate quick and efficient network restoration during outages and emergencies.

Team Growth and Optimization

  • Continuously evaluate staffing needs. Recruit and expand the team to ensure the right talent is in place to support current and future workloads.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in OSP construction, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role. Proven success managing fiber projects in telecom or utility sectors.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High-level understanding of fiber optic splicing, OTDR testing, loss budgets, and documentation standards.
  • Familiarity with Hybrid Fiber Coax architecture and deployment is a strong asset.
  • In-depth understanding of OHS regulations in British Columbia, including WorkSafeBC requirements, traffic control protocols, and safe work procedures for aerial and underground environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing crews and supervisors in high-volume field environments. Leadership training or certifications are an asset.
  • Ability to manage budgets, read P&Ls, analyze job costing, and ensure financial accountability across multiple projects.
  • Experience tracking performance metrics, reporting on outcomes, and using data to guide operational decision-making.
  • Impeccable attention to technical and administrative detail in field execution, project documentation, safety, and compliance.
  • Experience working with Canadian telecom providers such as TELUS, Rogers, Bell, or their subcontractors is highly desirable.
  • Operational understanding of equipment and tooling used in the trade including but not limited to bucket trucks, digger derrick trucks, cable placement devices, excavators, trailers, hydraulics/pneumatics and related.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Field work and travel throughout Southern Interior BC
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and wet environments
  • Flexibility required for emergency response, time-sensitive projects, and client needs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders
  • Ability to perform site inspections in aerial and underground environments
  • Drive long distances as needed to access project locations

Warehouse Attendant

Job Description

The Warehouse Attendant plays a key role in the organization and efficiency of DHC Communications’ warehouse operations. This position is responsible for receiving and managing inventory, fulfilling sales orders, shipping and receiving materials, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

The successful candidate will bring experience in warehouse operations and demonstrate strong computer skills to assist in automating transactions, running reports, and developing efficient processes for daily warehouse tasks.

This position is an onsite position, located at 607 Front Street in Nelson. BC. The expectation is for 40hrs per week, 7am-3pm, with some flexibility as needed. The salary range for this position is $60,000- $65,000 annually.

Duties and Responsibilities

Receiving and Processing Stock

  • Receive incoming purchase orders, inspect shipments, and match items against packing slips.
  • Ensure all received items are accurate and complete before fulfilling corresponding purchase orders.

Order Picking and Fulfillment

  • Accurately pick and label items for Sales Orders and stage them in designated areas.
  • Clearly communicate item locations and order status to installers and project managers.

·Inventory Organization and Management

  • Label inventory with SKU, part number, and description before placing it in appropriate storage locations.
  • Track and monitor stock levels, identify shortages, and compile restock lists.
  • Conduct physical inventory counts and reconcile with digital inventory systems to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Sort and place items on racks, shelves or in bins.

System Updates and Reporting

  • Update Sales Orders and project tracking software when materials are picked or added.
  • Notify project managers of received items via designated software program, including shelf location and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in running and generating inventory and shipping reports as needed.

Shipping and Returns

  • Prepare outbound shipments and returns, including secure packing, documentation, and courier pickup scheduling.
  • Record shipping details, such as waybills and tracking numbers, and update relevant tickets or systems.

Warehouse Organization and Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse space.
  • Ensure all items are safely stored, aisles are clear, and tools and equipment are returned to proper locations.

Customer and Internal Support

  • Support walk-in or call-in customers looking for in-stock items.
  • Assist team members with warehouse-related needs, including locating materials or supplies.

Process Improvement and Technology Use

  • Leverage software systems and tools to streamline warehouse operations.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of warehouse procedures and documentation.
  • Participate in or lead efforts to automate repetitive tasks and enhance accuracy and efficiency through technology.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working in warehouse operations.
  • Proficient with computers and capable of using inventory and reporting systems.
  • Comfortable using email, ticketing systems, and digital tracking tools.
  • Interest or experience in process automation or workflow optimization.
  • Technically inclined with the ability to troubleshoot, run basic reports, and contribute to system improvements.
  • Proficiency in financial planning software and MS Office.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on client service.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Must be able to work independently while collaborating with project managers and other staff.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, and occasionally heavier items with assistance.
  • Comfortable with frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and reaching
  • throughout the workday, and climbing ladders or step stools to access higher shelving.
  • Manual dexterity required for handling tools, packing materials, and labeling inventory.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment, which may include exposure to
  • varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
  • Valid Drivers License and clean Drivers record.
